Red Hair: Maintenance and Upkeep

Image
Dear Diary Readers, It's been over two months since I dyed my hair red. I've loved the deep auburn shade and it has faded out nicely. Luckily, it hasn't faded too much, thanks to the Loreal Feria brand. What also came into play was the steps I took to maintain the color. We know dyed hair color in general has to be maintained well, but red is one of the hardest colors to do so. I'll reveal what I've been doing and what I will do next. Sun exposure is one of the main causes of color-treated hair fading and becoming dull. Simply put, I try to limit how long I'm being exposed to the sun. If I'm out, I will stay only for a bit and return inside so the UV rays don't shine over the hair too much. Another thing I'll do is limit how often I wash my hair. Shampooing too often will strip the color quickly. I've still been using Loreal's Elvive Color Vibrancy line, which is effective in keeping the color bright. Washing my hair with lukewarm to cool wat

First Week of New Semester (College)

Image
Dear Diary Readers,  This week was my first day of the Fall semester of college. I'm still currently at NVCC, however, the merge has occurred between the rest of the Connecticut community colleges. Now, the system is called CT State Community College. So far, it seems nice, nothing too drastic as far as changes go. I'm getting close to completing my Associate's degree in Marketing.  This semester I'm taking Business Communication and General Psychology 1. The psychology class is not a requirement for my major, but I wanted to learn something new and thought it'd be cool to learn more about the subconscious mind. Two classes are enough for me to manage since I'm working full-time, it's the best way for me to balance school and work. Luckily, my classes are online, one is an LRON course and the other is fully online. This makes it even better for me so that I don't have to go to the campuses.  I'm hoping that the assignments won't be too challeng

Good Eats at Puerto Vallarta

Image
Dear Diary Readers, Sorry for the late post. I have another Mexican restaurant that I like to eat at sometimes. It's called Puerto Vallarta, you can find this eatery in Danbury. They believe in authenticity so if you're looking for authentic Mexican food, you'll enjoy this place. The drinks are impressive, usually if I want something alcoholic, I'll order a beer or a margarita. Their margaritas come in different flavors such as raspberry, mango, passion fruit, peach, etc. My favorite flavor is Passion Fruit. Getting it done frozen is the best way to go and adding salt on the rim will provide the right balance between sweet and salty.  For an entree, I've had Shrimp with garlic sauce, quesadillas, and carne asada. Any of those dishes I recommend, but there's still a big selection of other plates to choose from.  The desserts are one of the best parts about coming here because they have flan, fried ice cream, tres leches cake, etc. Flan is my favorite dessert th

Reconnecting With a Friend

Image
Dear Diary Readers, Recently, I've reconnected with a childhood friend, and it's been lovely so far. We had been friends since we were 8 or 9. Nothing wrong ever happened between us, just that by around high school, we started growing apart. We both had other friends too that we were hanging out with. Last year at a birthday party, we met up unexpectedly and started talking. It led to us exchanging numbers. We would text here and there, but in the last couple of weeks, we've texted on more of a daily basis. I promised her that I would check up on her more often, and I've stuck to it. Last week, she picked me up, and we made plans to go to the mall. It was a wonderful 3 hours of us doing some shopping and eating lunch at the food court.  It made me realize how important it is to catch up with old friends, no matter what's going on in our own lives. Both people make an effort to rekindle a friendship. I'll see you in the next post! Sincerely, Jasmine

Trip to Guatemala

Image
Dear Diary Readers, The second half of my vacation was about me traveling to Guatemala. It had never come across to me to travel there until last year. I found it to be a beautiful country with lots of things to see.  There would be a lot to do in eight days. My mom, my aunt, and I had a blast.    We stayed in the capital Guatemala City in Zone 10, which is one of the safest areas for tourists. One of the places we visited was the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago. It was important to us because on every trip we like to visit at least one historical Catholic church. After that, we took a tour around Palacio Nacional de la Cultura. It was formerly known as the headquarters for the president of Guatemala. Other places we saw were La Aurora Zoo and Miraflores Mall.  Another major city we explored was Antigua. We didn't do too many things downtown because of the traffic and there were hardly any parking spots. There was a festival that day for a traditional holiday. However, we went t

Roadtrip to Toronto

Image
Dear Diary Readers, I know I've been away on vacation for a couple weeks, but I had a wonderful time. The first part of my trip was going to Toronto for 3 days with family. We hadn't been to Canada since 2016, back then we had gone to Montreal. Toronto was a great city and we were able to see quite a few things in only three days. On every trip, we normally like to go to at least one aquarium or a zoo. In this case, we decided to head to Ripley's Aquarium of Canada. There were some nice animals to look at, like the fish and coral. For getting souvenirs, they had two gift shops, one that was smaller while the other one was a bigger store. The only negative was that tickets were expensive and there weren't too many exhibits in the aquarium to make it worth the price.  Museums are another favorite activity of ours, so we went to Royal Ontario Museum. There were exhibits on art, world culture, and natural history. Anyone could spend hours walking around and there would st

Announcement for Traveling

Dear Diary Readers, I'm going on vacation for two weeks, so I won't be posting on my blog. For now, I'm keeping my travel plans a surprise. I promise that I'll make it up by sharing my experience in a two-part blog post. Expect to hear exciting details and check out a few photos I will add. I can give out a hint, I'll be traveling to 2 countries. I'll see you in my next post! Sincerely, Jasmine
