TV/Movie Thoughts: Stranger Things
Dear Diary Readers,
I love the Stranger Things series. It's a well-made drama and horror Netflix series. This year, I chose to watch the rest of the seasons because I had only watched season 1 a few years ago. I binge-watched seasons 2,3, and 4 within a couple months. The characters are amazing and true badasses. They prove that they can get through whatever the Upside Down throws at them in Hawkins, Indiana.
Although there's no hate for either season, my personal favorites are seasons 3 and 4. I love the plotlines about the Russian/soviet unions and Vecna. Most of the characters are great, like Nancy, the journalist enthusiast who learned quickly how to use a gun and became the best shooter. The four boys, Lucas, Dustin, Mike, and Will use their love for Dungeons and Dragons and science to solve mysteries. Eleven (a.k.a. Jane) is a powerful superwoman, who slays with her telekinesis. Robin is smart with knowing Russian and has a cool tomboy personality. Johnathan is talented with audio/video and is supportive of others. Joyce and Jim (Hopper) are the adults in this gang who are protective of the teens and can fight while piecing together mysteries.
The character development is also constructed well. Max started off in season 2 as a tough girl who was introverted and was bullied by her stepbrother Billy. When she joined the group, her walls came down and she could open up to her friends. Her relationship with Lucas is special and you love the way they connect. It was hard in season 4 to watch her get attacked by Vecna and put in a coma. I hope in the final season, she'll wake up. Steve has the best character development and has come a long way. In the 1st season, he was a basic high school jock who only cared about girls and popularity. From season 2 and beyond, he matured and became selfless. He's the older brother figure to the younger teens who will look after them no matter what.
This series is incredible and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't watched it. See you in the next post!
Sincerely,
Jasmine
